Practice what you preach. Since 2004 KSI explored new insights about transition theory and transition management. The network developed a huge number of projects to better identify, understand and influence the process of transitions and system innovations. But all this knowledge alone is not enough to reach the changes that are necessary for a more sustainable society. Therefore KSI focussed also on practical and ‘real life' cases to broaden the scientific theories and to put transitions to the test. That led to a number of workshops, meetings, arena's and testing grounds where KSI worked together with professionals, practitioners and representatives from government, business and industry. Sustainability transitions in this way hopefully become ‘business as usual' in due time in many domains of our society.
At several yearly conferences KSI shared all that information and all those experiences with fellow scientist and kindred spirits from different societal and economic sectors. CCT, an organisation with KSI as co-founder, helps companies, institutions and all sorts of authorities to act en think sustainable within the borders of the own organisation. Urgenda, partly another initiative from KSI, is the visionary organisation that wants to create a sustainable society in Holland in 2050 by a number of practical sustainability projects that will be carried out step by step.
