International
Traditionally Dutch science leave's ones mark on transition knowledge and theory. During the six years KSI existed the network became more and more international. Nowadays the mission of the network for system innovation and transition has reached a global character. Not only KSI-members gave their programmes and pioneering projects more and more an international dimension, scientists from abroad were introduced in the basics of transition theory. Many of them introduced transition theory at universities and institutes in their own country or wrote papers and articles about this new field of science. With the result that transition knowledge in 2010 has become a successful Dutch export article!
There are lots of examples of the ‘internationalisation' of the body of thought that KSI developed during the years. Scientists of KSI gave special sessions and workshops in Germany, Austria, Italy, Denmark, Ireland and Switzerland. They were introduced as keynote speakers on international meetings and conferences in various European and Asian countries. With the result that KSI became a name in the scientific world. In 2009 KSI organised the first European Conference on Transitions in Amsterdam. In 2011 the second conference will take place in Lund in Sweden.
But there is more. Scientist and researchers from all parts of ‘the old world' communicate with each other at the European Network Site that is also an initiative of KSI. Representatives of KSI wrote special issues about matters of transition and sustainability for international scientific journals and magazines. Together with KSI the English publisher Routledge coordinates a book series of at least six volumes about the various aspect of transitions in relation with sustainability in various domains of society.
